Dallas Star's Best Games in Reunion -
September 13, 1999 vs. Chicago Blackhawks
Suffice it to say that rookie Marty Turco's
best game in Reunion Arena is still to come.
A rising young prospect, this season will be
his first as a regular member for the Stars.
Although he has appeared on the Dallas
roster as a back-up goaltender and has been
to the team's training camp, he has never
actually played in a regular season game
prior to this year.
But during the 1999 preseason, he provided a
little taste of things to come. With the Stars
down 2-0 to Chicago, Turco entered the game midway
through the second period and proceeded to
shutdown the Blackhawks' offense. He turned away
all ten shots he faced to keep Chicago off the
board while his Dallas teammates came to life and
scored five unanswered goals to take a 5-2
victory. Turco's first NHL experience as a winner.
"It's still early, but Turco gives us an added
dimension. He really moves the puck out of trouble
well." - Ken Hitchcock |
