| This is a special stick from a very special event. This stick was used by The Great One as he returned to Edmonton to take part in the bitter cold outdoor Oldtimers’ game between Oiler and Montreal Canadiens alumni in November of 2003. Red TPS Response Plus model stick has “Gretzky 99” in white on the front of the shaft, a good old black foam grip instead of a taped knob and a classically white-powdered black-taped blade. Stick does indeed show light game use and was signed on the lower shaft “To Ed Your Friend Wayne Gretzky 99” in silver ink. Some things, like Wayne’s class, never change! It was noted that Wayne Gretzky might have taped up many sticks for the Heritage Classic game that he would not have ended up using in the game and later distributed them to his friends. This particular stick was presented to Canadiens team trainer Eddy Palchak and because of a few marks on the blade and actual wear on the blade tape, it is strongly believed that this could be one of the ones he actually used in the game. The original seller, who attended the game with Eddy Palchak also claims this is one of the sticks that was actually used during the game. |
